Massage Therapy – Guildford

Deep Tissue Massage, Sport Massage and Trigger point Massage

What is massage?

Deep Tissue massage

This massage technique uses slower, more-forceful strokes to target the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue, commonly to help with muscle damage from injuries.

Sports massage

This is similar to Swedish massage (long strokes, kneading, deep circular movements, vibration and tapping techniques) but it’s geared toward people involved in sport activities to help prevent or treat injuries.

Trigger point massage

This massage focuses on areas of tight muscle fibers that can form in your muscles after injuries or overuse.

Instrument assisted soft tissue mobilisation (IASTM)

To complement the above treatments, our therapist uses an Instrument assisted soft tissue mobilisation (IASTM), which enables clinicians to efficiently locate and treat individuals diagnosed with soft tissue and fascial dysfunction.

How does IASTM work?

The instrument effectively break down fascial restrictions and scar tissue. The ergonomic design of these instruments provides the clinician with the ability to locate restrictions and allows the clinician to treat the affected area non-invasively with the appropriate amount of pressure.

Massage therapy

In addition to the above, massage is used to treat the following conditions.

• Anxiety
• Digestive disorders
• Fibromyalgia
• Headaches
• Insomnia related to stress
• Myofascial pain syndrome
• Soft tissue strains or injuries
• Sports injuries

Please remember, you don’t need to have a particular issue to have massage as it is a proven way to spruce up your day and make you feel better in general!
