Relaxation, Deep Tissue, Sports and Trigger Point Therapy

What types of Massage do we specialise in?

Relaxation Massage

This relaxing massage treatment will usually involve flowing strokes and kneading, performed at your chosen pressure. It’s a pain free therapy and an effective way to de-stress and relax the mind and body.

Therapeutic / Deep Tissue Massage

This massage technique uses slower, superficial, or more forceful strokes (depending on the individual’s requirements), to target the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. More commonly used to help with muscle damage from overuse or injuries.

Sports Massage

This is similar to Swedish massage (long strokes, kneading, deep circular movements, vibration and tapping techniques), geared toward people involved in sport activities. This type of massage helps to prepare the muscle tissue for activity/competition, or even to help prevent or treat injuries.

Trigger Point Therapy

This massage technique focuses on areas of tight muscle fibers that can form in your muscles after injuries or overuse. This specialised technique, is proven to improves movement and alleviates pain almost immediately.

Pregnancy Massage

This massage technique is a specially adapted gentle and soothing massage, tailored specifically for the mother-to-be. Our therapists will use specialist guided deep tissue work with firm strokes to the deeper areas if safe and necessary. The general technique involves gentle, long strokes to the muscles to facilitate relaxation and to prepare the body for labour.

Anxiety and Stress Relief

Massage is an effective treatment to help decrease stress and anxiety. Massage helps by releasing endorphins, which counters the stress hormone cortisol,  lowering the heart rate and relaxing muscles. When stressed and anxious, muscles become tight and restricted. Massage increases the temperature in the body and promotes blood flow to those muscles that need it most.

Postural Massage Therapy

posture compensation using the posture analysis scan

For those sitting at desks all day, our massage therapists can target areas of postural weakness and soft tissue compensation. In addition to their hands on skills, they utilise a posture analysis program to show you your structural and functional adaptations, which they can then target to improve posture following treatment.

In addition to the above, massage is used to treat the following conditions.

Anxiety
• Digestive disorders
• Fibromyalgia
• Headaches
Insomnia related to stress
• Myofascial pain syndrome
• Soft tissue strains or injuries

Please remember, you don’t need to have a particular issue to have massage as it is a proven way to spruce up your day and make you feel better in general!

Rehabilitation from Sport or Exercise

Whether you’re an enthusiastic amateur or an elite professional, Our massage therapists can help with the prevention and treatment of common sports injuries.

Sports injuries can also be caused by overusing muscles such as in tennis and golfer’s elbow and various tendinopathies.

Recurrent injuries may be due to an underlying problem, such as postural changes, as a result of old injuries that have not been resolved. These changes can lead to compensatory muscular imbalances and joint restriction. Our skilled, physio, sports and massage therapists are trained to identify and treat these various muscle imbalances and sporting injuries.
