Our Guildford and Surrey Physiotherapy Services Are Promoted By
Groin Strain and Physiotherapy Treatment
Our Guildford and Surrey Physiotherapy uses manual techniques for groin strains. The treatment may include soft tissue release techniques to improve the flexibility in the groin muscles (adductors) and muscle energy technique (MET’s).
This treatment technique can reduce pain, reduce muscle tone, stretch tightened muscles, strengthen the weak muscles, improve local circulation and mobilise joint restrictions.
Hip mobilisation exercises will be given to improve blood circulation to the tissues and improve joint function.
Heel Pain and Physiotherapy Treatment
There are many causes of heel pain. Heel pain is usually felt as an intense pain when using the affected heel. The most common causes of heel pain include, plantar fasciitis (also known as policeman’s heel) and Achilles Tendonitis.
In the short term, we use treatments such as shockwave therapy and low lever laser therapy, which are clinically proven to help with reducing inflammation and give pain relief.
Following the success of the treatments, our Guildford and Surrey Physiotherapist will also advise on ways to manage the heel pain outside of our clinic environment. For example,
- resting your heel – a few days rest and or reducing walking duration/distance.
- stretching – stretching your calf muscles and plantar fascia
- pain relief – using an icepack on the affected heel
- footwear – wearing well fitted shoes that support and cushion your feet. Shoes with a firm heel counter is recommended i.e. running shoes.
- Insoles/Orthotics –to raise the arch and support the foot.
